OBD作為一個專有名詞的縮寫，其全稱為On Board Diagnostics，中文的意思是：車載自動診斷系統(tǒng)。這套系統(tǒng)能在汽車運行過程中實時監(jiān)測發(fā)動機(jī)電控系統(tǒng)及車輛的其它功能模塊的工作狀況，如有發(fā)現(xiàn)工況異常，則根據(jù)特定的算法判斷出具體的故障，并以診斷故障代碼(DTC，Diagnostic Trouble Codes)的形式存儲在系統(tǒng)內(nèi)的存儲器上。系統(tǒng)自診斷后得到的有用信息可以為車輛的維修和保養(yǎng)提供幫助，維修人員可以利用汽車原廠專用儀器讀取故障碼，從而可以對故障進(jìn)行快速定位，以便于對車輛的修理，減少人工診斷的時間。

This system can real-time monitor the working status of the engine electronic control system and other function modules of the vehicle in the process of running. If abnormal working conditions are found, specific faults can be judged according to specific algorithms, and stored in the memory of the system in the form of diagnostic Trouble Codes. The useful information obtained by the system after self-diagnosis can provide help for vehicle maintenance and repair. Maintenance personnel can read the fault codes by using the special equipment of the original factory of the vehicle, so as to locate the fault quickly, so as to facilitate vehicle repair and reduce the time of manual diagnosis.
